An ex-employee of the State Bank of India, it was Pradhan’s childhood dream to become a doctor. The last time he took an entrance exam for MBBS was in the 1970s but he could not clear it back then. As quoted by The Hindu, the sense of non-fulfillment lingered on for him for quite some time but it was this year, he was able to go one step ahead towards his dream.
Pradhan has twin daughters who motivated him to study for the test. Unfortunately, one of them passed away last month. With the muted celebrations, he was determined to study medicine in the memory of his daughter.
In 2019, the Supreme Court had lifted the upper age limit for studying until there is another judgment is passed. Therefore, it gave him more impetus to study MBBS.
Pradhan has been cleared in the specializations of cardiology, pulmonary function, and nephrology.
As this news broke on the internet, netizens lauded him for his determination and further encouraged him to carry on to play the ‘second innings’ of his life.
One of them even accurately called him ‘Jay Bhai MBBS.’
People like Jay Kishore Pradhan make us realize that life is too short to not try and fulfill your dreams, no matter what the person’s age might be. Let us wish him all the best to him and hoping that this is the most nourishing and amazing experience of his life!
