Will Re-NEET happen? As students move to supreme court
Amid the big paper leak scam, all the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 aspirants are now demanding a re-exam of the medical entrance test. Twitter is trending with hashtag #FAIRNEET, with thousands of students lining up to raise their queries and demands.
On Twitter, aspirants are demanding that the exam should be canceled and a re-test should be conducted by the authorities with tighter security measures so that cheating is prevented. Before the demand for re-exam, NEET aspirants also wanted a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation to be done in the scam.
One student wrote, “#students demands #FAIRNEET. #NEET2021 was not fairly conducted. We are against the malpractices that have been happening, for which many deservering students will get affected. We will not keep quite until we get justice. If we don’t stand united, this scams will continue.”
Another said, “We as an aspirants who worked so hard for the last 2.5 years and more and to others who r giving their 3rd or 4th attempt have the right to get a fair chance but the sad part is even NTA is not ready to respond. Don’t be so harsh to us.#reneet21 #FAIRNEET #fairchance.”
NTA NEET is the all-India level entrance examination for undergraduate medical courses. This year, the exam was held on September 12 across the country. Over 16 lakh students had appeared for the exam.
The paper leak was first reported in a centre in Rajasthan RIET college after which Rajasthan police made several arrests in the case. A lot of students also sent a representation to the National Testing Agency (NTA) and not only demanded a re-exam for students but also asked the CBI to intervene.
As for the paper, aspirants said that it was an ‘unfortunate event’ and a ‘matter of grave concern regarding the student’s future and a breach of sanctity and security of the examination’.
